HOW TO KNOW IF YOU ARE SPAMMING YOUR FRIENDS
If you're an up-and-coming rapper, one of your major fears is losing fans by promoting to them too much.
You don't want to turn away potential lifelong customers of your tunes by being "THAT PERSON" on social media always shoving their track down people's throats, only to have them ignore you, block you, or worse... actively roast you and your music to other people.
Today's video is going to explain the do's and don't to avoid every ruining your reputation as an artist by being a spammy a$$hole.

FULL NOTES FROM THE VIDEO:
Part 1 - Places That Are Considered Spam
The most obvious way to be considered "spamming" in the rap game is posting in the comment box of a video "check my song!", "when you get five minutes, stop everything you're doing and listen to this!", etc.
I love my HTR fans and most of our comments are awesome BUT have you read MOST other YouTube comment boxes before?
They are filled with poisonous racist hateful troll s#!t. NOWHERE for you to be promoting your music. It will get nowhere, as well.
Have YOU ever discovered a top 10 rapper from a comment box? Probably not. So why try to do it yourself.
Spam-filled, post-filled, no-feedback giving Facebook groups
You know the ones. Titled "RAPPERS - POST YOUR MUSIC HERE TO PROMOTE!", "PROMOTE YOUR HIP-HOP HERE!", etc. 98% of these groups are just filled with people posting their own stuff, never giving feedback, never building community, ignoring everyone else and then patting themselves on the back as if they are actually protoming effectively. Avoid these spam dumpsters.
YOUR FRIEND'S WALLS / DM'S
FOR THE LOVE OF YEEZUS DO NOT INVADE YOUR FRIENDS SOCIAL MEDIA AND WHINE LIKE A DISGRUNTLED EX ABOUT HOW THEY DIDN'T PEEP YOUR SONG. Friendship by definition is bigger than a reweet, WAKE TF UP PEOPLE.
Most Rap Forums
While I do think these places serve some very good purposes including building your knowledge of the history and community of Hip-Hop, being up on new tracks and info, and generally they can be quite funny... alot of these places are filled with 40 year old men in Champion hoodies who live RVs who derive their sense of ego by the fact they are the top dog on a Hip-Hop forum. Use these veneus for their strengths, not their weaknesses.
Part 2 - Three HEALTHY Ways To Promote Yourself
Compliment / Engage / Offer Value to potential fans for a week straight... THEN ask for a listen
How about you "flip the script" and actual be nice to someone ELSE first, complimenting and engaging them before expecting a favor or help after? This is a golden rule principle right here. Be SUPPORTIVE TO OTHERS FIRST IF YOU WANT THEM TO SUPPORT YOU.
Introduce Them To Other Dope People
There are few more effective social strategies in life than to introduce AWESOME people to each other. It makes YOU look cool, the people who meet will NEVER forget YOU did it... and it makes it VERY easy to ask them for favors down the road... such as CHECKING YOUR SONG.
Do favors for influential people
If you just DO A FAVOR for some important who can get your stuff popping, whether than be design a logo, send them beats, etc. you'd be SURPRISED how easily you can (sometimes) get on their radar. Try this hack out from time to time to UP your social status and promotional skills.
